Early in his Step 1 preparation, Alec realized that certain “top” review resources all his friends were using were completely useless for his learning style. Rather than continue to struggle, he began to explore other types of resources, eventually finding a core set of review materials that made his Step 1 studying a much more rewarding and enlightening experience. Since his exam, Alec has devoted his time to exploring as many resources as possible so he can help his students build the most effective and efficient study plan for their individual Step 1 goals and time frame. In combination with resource utilization, Alec focuses heavily on question approach with his students, helping them adopt efficient and consistent strategies that mirror the features and habits of great standardized test takers. With these methods, Alec’s students successfully build their foundational knowledge, and learn how to apply that knowledge not only to Step 1 questions, but to all clinical scenarios on future exams and on the wards.
