J. Roberto Varela is a supportive, energetic, and encouraging person who wants to make Step 1 studying less stressful than it already is by ensuring effective studying while maintaining mental health. From tutoring in high school, to teaching other students surgical procedures as a part of his undergraduate research project, to helping tutor M1 students, Roberto has always had a passion for teaching and wishes to continue this in the future as an aspiring surgeon.

Students can rely on Roberto to help them focus on their weaknesses and to help them select and use resources that will make their studying effective. Additionally, he will be able to help break down complicated questions/topics and then build and add on the high-yield details. He is also excited to help improve a student's test-taking strategy as this is such a crucial component of being able to apply their knowledge on exam day.
